Bugs!

Long into the future, in a land far, far away…

Gin, Ixio, Scarlet and Tamar decided to finish out their night of rest on the Abzaal Rock Flats after Gin had killed a panther. As Ixio kept watch, Gin awoke screaming with his eyes smoldering. His companions tried to alleviate the pain and find out what was wrong, but eventually Gin’s pain subsided and he explained that his condition was a part of his family curse.

The next day, Ixio cast a spell to find a familiar. Out of the gloom Eki, the cutest kitty you ever saw, appeared to aid him in his future adventures. After marching through the morning, the group came upon three ghouls feasting on a dead elf. Next to them were several trinkets and much needed wineskins. Gin and Ixio used illusionary magic to draw away some of the ghouls as Tamar and Scarlet bound in to attack. Ixio used his new wizard powers to cause two of the ghouls to stumble around in a greasy area. But they still managed to paralyze and chomp on Tamar before they were all put to final death. After Scarlet played a lovely melody on her guitar to boost Tamar’s strength, they again headed out.

The next day, Ixio disturbed a nest of centipedes. They began crawling all over him and biting. He ran like a sissy human away and the swarm went after Tamar. She too fled as Gin and Scarlet kept their cool and tried to disperse the swarm. The centipedes were eventually squashed, with the last remaining few sliding out of sight under the rocks…

The Hag

Long into the future, in a land far, far away…

Gin, Ixio, Scarlet and Tamar continued slogging through the Mourntin Bogs southward toward Osmarren, but with information from the denizens of SternCo, they planned on making a detour to a rumored ancient library. After a few dismal days they came upon an old crone that begged them not to hurt her. She claimed to be picking edible moss and had nothing of value. Ixio used the true sight of his magical dagger, named Lumen, to view the old elf.

To his surprise, the crone was actually a vicious swamp hag in disguise. Her putrid appearance caused fear among the heroes, but they shook off the effects as Gin struck the first massive blow. Under intense attack, the witch fled. As Ixio and Tamar searched the hag’s skiff, Gin and Scarlet warily kept watch. Gin tried to blast an area of bubbles were he suspected the hag was hiding in the water, but turned up nothing. But Scarlet ran up with her rapier and struck the hag under the water, exposing her for Ixio’s final blow. They found several regents, potions and scrolls in the skiff, as well as sleeping poison.

The heroes eventually made it out of the Mourntin Bogs and camped for the night on the outskirts of the Abzaal Rock Flats. During the evening, Gin was hunted by a panther. The beast pounced on him, knocking him to the ground. However, the warlock cast a quick spell that scrambled the panther’s brain, dropping it dead…

At SternCo

Long into the future, in a land far, far away…

Gin, Ixio, Scarlet and Tamar battled heartily again a pair of Kuo-Toa and their mudfish mounts while traversing the Mourntin Bogs. Once the Kuo-toa were slain, an elf appeared atop the great island of rubble and twisted metal ahead of them. She urged them to quickly follow her inside the rubble pile before the undead arrived. Once inside, the group discovered that the place was a collection of ancient lightning rail cars with large boulders piled on top of them. Soon, a large half-orc arrived with a group of warriors. He chastised Tallalia for allowing strangers into their domicile, but offered the group shelter and food for the night. Gin, Scarlet and Tamar proceeded to delight the miserable occupants of SternCo with music and entertainment as Ixio examined the glowing fungi on the walls.

The next morning, the half-orc warned them to avoid a library where the undead were known to congregate. The companions were then sent away with their weapons as well as Tallalia, who had been banished for her hospitality. They soon came upon a dilapidated tower covered in spider webs. Two humanoid were hanging in the webs and moved about. Gin tried to use telepathy to contact the creatures to no avail. Tamar sensed the beings were evil, so Ixio shot flaming bolts into the web. However, he missed badly and only managed to arouse the giant spider lurking in the trees. The companions defeated the spider and, but the cocoons soon opened and two zombies flopped out.

While one zombie proved easy to put to final death, the other refused to let go of its miserable life. Eventually, a final eldritch blast severed the zombie’s very loose head…

Mud Men Cometh

Long into the future, in a land far, far away…

Gin, Ixio, Scarlet and Tamar continued travelling south through the Mourntin Bogs when a dreaded marsh storm sprung up. The companions huddled under a large tree as the storm intensified. Debris and driving rain pelted the heroes, threatening to overwhelm them. The storm quickly departed but opened an elemental rift that summoned several mud men. The group was able to defeat the creatures with only Tamar suffering minor wounds.

The companions continued their travels, hunting and eating swamp rat to fend off hunger, until they spotted a large pile of rocks jutting from the swamp waters. At the rock pile were two fish-headed humanoids with their large mud-fish mounts. Gin, Ixio, Scarlet and Tamar waited to see if the creatures acted hostile. They soon received an answer as the Kuo-Toa rushed to their mounts and aggressively brandished their spears…

So It Begins...

Long into the future, in a land far, far away…

Gin, Ixio, Scarlet and Tamar found themselves travelling south toward Osmarren, a rumored cavern settlement of intelligent races. Their journey brought them into the fetid Mourntin Bogs where they slogged through the grasping mud, with occasional reprieves from ancient rocks that rose from the marsh.

The air hung thick with clouds of insects during the high part of the day as the sun provided dim green light, but darkness began to close in too soon. Green elemental lightning begins to crackle through the fog and clouds as a dreaded marsh storm quickly brews. The first drops of rain begin to fall as the wind picks up.

With lashing rain, flying mud and the chance of elemental rifts, marsh storms bring terror to even the most prepared of heroes…
